Кларк, Чарльз












Чарльз М. Кларк (англ. Charles M. Clarke; [Нет даты!]) — австралийский эколог и ботаник. Специализируется на хищных растениях рода Непентес (Nepenthes), считается мировым авторитетом в этой области[1].

Биография[править]

Кларк имеет диплом с отличием по ботанике Университета Монаша в Мельбурне и степень доктора философии по управлению экосистемами Университета Новой Англии в Армидейле (Новый Южный Уэльс).

Впервые Кларк отправился на Борнео в поисках непентесов в 1987 году. В 1989 и 1990 годах жил в Брунее, изучая экологию непентесов. В перерывах между поездками преподавал экологию и биометрию в Университете Джеймса Кука в Квинсленде, а также работал консультантом по садоводству в Гонконге.

Сейчас работает в Ботаническом саду Кэрнса[1]. Кларк написал пять книг и руководств о непентесах, в которых обобщены результаты исследований, проведённых во время его поездок по Малайскому архипелагу. Наиболее значимыми из этих работ являются монографии Nepenthes of Borneo (1997) и Nepenthes of Sumatra and Peninsular Malaysia (2001)[2].

Кларк описал шесть видов непентесов: N. baramensis (ныне известен как N. hemsleyana[3]), N. benstonei, N. chaniana, N. izumiae, N. jacquelineae и N. tenax.
